After School Counselor

Category: After School and Summer Camp

Under the supervision and guidance of the Child Care Director, this position is responsible for providing direct care of the children enrolled in the after-school/summer camp programs and assisting the director in meeting and exceeding the TDFPS minimum standards and complying with all YMCA policies and procedures. The counselor is responsible for implementing the activities and curriculum set by the Director and engage the children in age appropriate activities.

Weekends off! After-school care 2:30 pm - 5:30 pm

Child Watch Staff

Are you looking for a flexible schedule and a chance to play while you work? We need you in our Child Watch! Child Watch is a drop-in member service for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years while parents exercise inside the building. Child Watch staff will play, help with craft projects, and more!

The person selected for this position will be under the direct supervision of the Child Care Director and be responsible for providing an appropriately safe, caring and enriching environment for the children in Child Watch. All Child Watch staff will be responsible for conducting themselves in an appropriate manner, setting an example for children, parents and coworkers by reflecting the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. All Child Watch staff will be responsible for the overall successful day-to-day running of the Y Child Watch program, as well as being responsible for high-quality childcare, which includes, but is not limited to, meeting the internal and external child & parent needs.

Fitness Floor Attendant

 We’re looking for friendly, outgoing, and self-motivated people to assist on our Fitness Floor. Shifts available include weekday (early morning and mid-morning) and weekends. Job duties include conversing with members, helping with exercise equipment use, routine cleaning, help with seasonal events. Flexible hours, pay based on experience.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position will cultivate member relationships by providing a high-level customer service experience, and improve member retention. This individual will engage members by interacting with them on the wellness floor, supporting the general membership, and completing a schedule for cleaning equipment each shift.

Job Responsibilities

  • Greets and develops friendly, professional relationships with all members.
  • Provides excellent customer service.
  • Remain alert and attentive to all members in the wellness center.
  • Enforce all safety rules fairly, consistently with tact and respect.
  • Ensure cleanliness of equipment and facility.
  • Engages with all members on the fitness floor.

  • All other duties assigned by Management.

Janitorial Maintenance Worker

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. This person will clean and sanitize assigned areas, including such duties as laundry, mopping, dusting, and trash removal. May complete duties related to window washing, meeting set up, pool cleaning, grounds keeping, and other related responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

-Ensures Y is attractive and clean by completing all duties listed on the daily schedule and maintains upkeep of assigned area and equipment.
-May perform wet and dust mopping, dusting, trash removal, recycling, window washing, pool cleaning, painting, vacuuming, and general cleaning.
-Operates related motorized and non-motorized equipment.
-Records and reports all needed repairs; perform repairs as directed.
-Ensures YMCA building and property is secure during shift and report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor.
-Replaces soap, paper towels, and other supplies.
-May set up furniture for events.
-Performs other duties as assigned.

Lifeguard

Category: Aquatics

Job Type: Part-Time

Under the direction of the Aquatics Director, the Lifeguard will be responsible for the safety and well-being of participants in the pool, on the pool deck, and surrounding areas during aquatic activities in the pool to effectively and courteously enforce all pool rules, regulations, and policies.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Maintains active surveillance of the pool area.
  2. Knows/reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. Completes related reports as required.
  3. Maintains effective, positive relationships with the members, participants and other staff.
  4. Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area. Maintains accurate records as required by the YMCA and/or the state Health Department code.
  5. Performs equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is available as needed.
  6. Checks the pool for hazardous conditions when arriving.
  7. Performs chemical testing when not guarding, as required, and takes appropriate action.
  8. Attends all staff meetings and in-service training.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.

Sports Referee

Swim Instructor

Category: Aquatics

The Y is a leading nonprofit for strengthening community, and the nation’s largest provider of swim lessons to increase skill related to Safety around Water. This position provides direct leadership, instruction and motivation for students in swimming classes of all ages and abilities. Provides exceptional customer service to promote aquatics programs and the YMCA.

Essential Functions
-Instructs swimming lessons in accordance with YMCA guidelines, having prepared lesson plans accordingly.
-Builds effective, authentic relationships with students and parents; helps them connect with each other and the YMCA. Encourages parent involvement and identifies potential volunteers. Provides exceptional customer service to promote the Aquatics program and YMCA.
-Conveys information on aquatics programs and schedules and as appropriate refers students and parents to other programs.
-Maintains records as required (i.e. attendance, progress reports, etc.).
-Attends staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.
-Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
-Organizes and puts away needed class equipment. Reports damaged equipment to Aquatics Manager and lifeguard on duty.
