Procedures

Fitness:

Children younger than 16 are not permitted on the fitness floor unless they are ages 12-15 and have successfully completed the Teen Fitness program.

• Only YMCA certified staff may conduct personal training or exercise instruction.
• Athletic shoes and shirts must be worn at all times.
• No food or drink is allowed on the fitness floor (except for water in pop top bottles).
• Do not rest on machines between sets.
• Please return weights to the racks after use.
• Please wipe off equipment after use.

Guest Pass

Due to the increased usage of our facilities and services, guest passes will be limited to three (3) passes effective June 1, 2013. A membership will be required for any further use of the facility after the three passes. All guests are required to provide a picture identification card and complete a YMCA guest pass form.
Adult: $10.00
Children: $5.00

Building Age

• Must be 12 years of age or older to be unaccompanied in the YMCA facility.
• Children 7-11 years of age must be accompanied by an individual 12 years of age or older.
• Children under 7 years of age are not permitted in the YMCA without an adult 18 years of age or older.
• Area specific age policies supersede above building age requirements. Example: group classes, fitness floor, pool lap & family open swim, racquetball courts, etc.

Gymnasium:

• No food or drink is allowed in the gym.
• Only athletic shoes are allowed in the gym. No cleats or roller blades. Shoes must be worn to participate in any gym activity.
• Return balls to carts when finished.

Membership:

• Presentation of membership card is required for admittance.
• 30 days written notice of cancellation is required to deactivate monthly bank draft.
• The YMCA is not responsible for items lost or stolen in the facility or from your vehicle while on our premises.
• Please do not bring valuables to the YMCA.
• Children older than 4 must use designated locker rooms according to gender.
• The Midland YMCA is committed to an environment that supports nondiscrimination for all persons regardless of race, color, religion, gender, age, sexual orientation, marital status, veteran status, national origin, or disability.  With that in mind, our policy and procedures adhere with applicable Texas law pertaining to facility use.
• To ensure the safety of our younger members, children 12 and younger must be accompanied at all times by a parent or guardian, unless they are involved in a supervised program.

Pool:

• Only YMCA approved flotation devices are allowed in the pool. Children must by well supervised by an adult in the water. Floaties are accepted if an adult is in the water supervising the child.
• Diving is only allowed in the 9-foot area.
• Swimsuits are required in the pool.
• During Family Open Swim, children who are 5 and younger must be accompanied by an adult in the water.

Video/Photograph Policy

The use of cell phones, particularly those equipped with cameras, has become prevalent. The concern of YMCA staff and parents is that it is possible for them to be used for corrupt purposes within locker rooms, restrooms or other areas of the YMCA.

Generally, the only photography allowed in the YMCA is through the written consent of the Executive Director or by YMCA staff for Y purposes only. We recognize it is difficult to completely ban cell phones from the facility. However, it is difficult to identify which cell phones are capable of taking pictures. The YMCA has adopted the following policy to protect our members, participants, guests and especially children.

Cellular phone cameras, video recorders, cameras or any other visual recording devices are not allowed within the YMCA locker rooms and restroom facilities. Anyone caught taking pictures of another person in the YMCA or in a YMCA program without permission from the YMCA administrative staff will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law and may face termination of their membership.

Code of Conduct:

At the Midland YMCA, we expect staff, members and guests to behave in accordance with our mission and values at all times, respecting the rights and dignity of others. At the YMCA, we demonstrate respect, responsibility, caring, trustworthiness, fairness and citizenship by:

• Speaking in respectful tones, refraining from the use of vulgar or derogatory language and dressing appropriately.
• Resolving conflicts in a respectful, honest and caring manner and never resorting to physical contact or threatening gestures.
• Respecting the property of others and never engaging in theft or destruction.

Prohibited actions specifically include, but are not limited to:

• Using or possessing alcohol on YMCA property, in YMCA vehicles, or at YMCA programs, with the exception of Board of Directors approved community events.
• Tobacco usage is prohibited in YMCA vehicles and facilities.  This includes e-cigarettes and vapor devices.
• The sale, possession, distribution, or use of any illegal substance by an individual on YMCA property is prohibited and will constitute grounds for immediate termination and possible prosecution.
• Any acts deemed inappropriate, threatening or offensive by the Midland YMCA board of directors or staff.
• Inappropriate attire. (as deemed by Board of Directors and/or staff)
• No pets are allowed on YMCA property unless they are "working dogs" to assist members while accessing the facilities, with exception of rescuing.
• Cell phone photography or unauthorized photography of members or participants, with exception of parents photographing children in youth sports program.
• Display of inappropriate sexual conduct.
• Weapons of any kind are prohibited unless carried a by licensed professional (law enforcement).
• Utilizing YMCA facility and program space for personal profit is prohibited with exception of approved contractual agreement between YMCA and private party.

Adherence to the YMCA Code of Conduct and regulations is essential. Non-compliance may result in suspension or termination of YMCA membership privileges.
