External Reporting Resources
Texas Child Abuse Hotline
If you suspect child abuse or neglect in Texas, report it to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.
Call: 1-800-252-5400
Online: Texas Abuse Hotline
For emergencies or immediate danger, call 911. Texas DFPS also lists online reporting and the 24/7 hotline as reporting options.
Praesidium Helpline
For guidance related to abuse prevention, suspicious interactions, or boundary concerns:
Call: 1-855-347-0751
Praesidium’s helpline is commonly referenced in YMCA youth protection resources.
What Happens After You Report?
Reports submitted to the YMCA are reviewed by designated leadership, including the CEO and HR.
Depending on the concern, the YMCA may:
- Review available information
- Follow up if contact information is provided
- Take appropriate safety or personnel action
- Report externally when required by law or policy
Anonymous reports may limit the YMCA’s ability to follow up, but every report will be reviewed.
Submitting a report to the YMCA does not replace calling 911 or reporting suspected child abuse or neglect to the appropriate state agency when required. In Texas, suspected child abuse or neglect should be reported to DFPS or law enforcement.
