Learn to Swim

Group Swim Lessons:

The Y invented the concept of group swim lessons, which leads us to say that there is no organization more qualified to teach your child water safety. Build confidence with every stroke. Group lessons are sold in 30-minute class sessions. 
Fall, Winter and Spring sessions are 2 days a week for 2 weeks.
Summer sessions are Monday-Thursday for 2 weeks.


Private Swim Lessons:

The Y offers private swim lesson instruction for all ages. Private lessons are a great way to tailor instruction to an individual’s specific needs. Private lessons are scheduled through the branch Swim Coordinator / Director. Private lessons are sold in packages of four 30-minute lessons.

Fees include eight sessions per the Aquatics schedule available at the the YMCA.
Instructors are Red Cross certified in CPR, AED, Oxygen Administration, and First Aid and are Lifeguard certified.



Parent-Tot Swim Lessons:

This 30 minute class is designed for parents and their children ages 6 months to 36 months. Parents participate in the pool with their children. Class activities are age and developmentally appropriate and are designed to help improve motor skills and physical ability. Pool safety information is shared with all participants.



Preschool Swim Lessons:

Introduction to swimming skills and personal water safety are highlighted in this class for 3, 4 and 5 year old children. Stroke development, water sports and games, and boating safety are incorporated into the lessons. Classes are 30 minutes each and have up to a 5 to 1 child/instructor ratio. Goggles are recommended.



Youth Swim Lessons:

This class is for children ages 6 and up. A maximum child/instructor ratio of 6 to 1 is maintained. This is a progressive swim program grouped by level of ability. Classes are 30 minutes and are designed to increase endurance and lung capacity in children. Boating safety, water sports and games, and stroke development are incorporated. Goggles are recommended. For beginner to advanced skill levels.



CoEd Adult Swim Lessons:

This is a learn-to-swim class for adults ages 16 and up and for those wanting to learn and refine technique. Up to 10 adults per class learn fundamentals of swimming in this hour long session. Instructors are Red Cross certified in CPR and First Aid and Lifeguard certified. For beginner to advanced skill levels.
